Research in Motion has officially abandon its new smartphone today, the BlackBerry 9000 bold, a big upgrade to their BlackBerry devices.

The Bold has a HVGA (480 x 320 pixels) display resolution, the same found in the Apple iPhone, which will probably improve the usability of many of BlackBerry applications. And to answer your next question, no, this is not the touchscreen.

RIM packaged in 1 GB of internal memory the Bold in 9000, and a microSD card slot for up to 16 GB of memory. Connectivity wise, the BlackBerry fat contains tri-band HSDPA and quad-band EDGE, 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth stereo and GPS.

Other features include a 2 megapixel camera with 5x digital zoom, improved QWERTY keyboard with thin metal strips between each row and a headphone jack 3.5 mm. All this is running on a StrongARM 624MHz processor with MMX, the CPU faster than can be found on a device.

AT & T has confirmed it will be the exclusive carrier for the BlackBerry 9000 boldface the USA. Price and launch date have not been officially revealed, but according to rumors, the new Bold price will be around $ 300 - $ 400 and the world will begin shipping this summer
